Can you check if your site is submitted or not  Reply with quote

Suppose that you pay someone to submit your site to a search directory for you. Can you check if your site is submitted or not? Is there any way to do that?

When you say 'search directory', what exactly do you mean? Google, Yahoo etc?

If so, they should pick it up soon enough from links to the new site. I havent submitted any sites apart from my first ever site. If it has links to it, the SEs will find it - if it doesn't have links to it, then you might as well not bother! :)

All search directories. DMOZ, Yahoo directory, etc.

Ah, well for DMOZ you could ask in their forum: http://www.resource-zone.com/ but (from personal experience) that is likely to annoy the editors, so probably not best to do.

For Dmoz, type your url in search without www and you will see if it's added. If you would like to know if it's in the unreview section you can submit your url again. To delete a duplicate is not a problem for an editor but don't send email or ask in forums.

But doesn't that put your site in the last in the queue?

Good luck with dmoz, I've been waiting over a year. Try to find a category with an active editor, look at the updated date on the bottom. Some have not been touched in years.

Submission  Reply with quote

I wouldn't worry about submission to anything other than DMOZ. And you can do that for yourself without too much hassle.

Even if it's not cached it will not hurt to submit. The cache is not everything, if it's not cached it doesent mean that spider hasen't been there.

Yes, there a few ways. First of all, you can ask the person to use your email so you get a confirmation email. Also, if the directory has a search form, search for your domain name, i.e. domain.com.

Hope that helps.
