I have been looking into TrustRank thing, and one thing that I hear occasionally is that domains like .edu, .gov and .org are generally more trusted by Google. I can understand why .edu and .gov are more trusted, but is .org really trusted? Anyone can get a .org domain, right?

Well, hmm, judging from what Matt Cutts said a while ago, edu domains aren't given more importance than .com let's say, just that in general, these pages tend to be well established and have a higher page rank.

.edu and .gov are given more weight since each instituition can only have one instance of that extension. The .org was originally set aside for charitable organizations, but in the early days of buying domains, they were quickly bought up before ICANN started considereing extensions for all the countries of the world, and "catchy" extensions like .tv and .mobi.
I would still take 1 link from an edu over ANY .com link.

I am going to agree. .edu is much better to get a link from because the se's know that the sites is going to be of more quality than a .com. But, it is very hard to get a link from a .edu!

I would go for an .edu too. It just looks more trustworthy

I need to ask.. Any of you did some real life testing and saw some results that might backup your affirmations ?
