I set up Google Analytics for some site about a week ago. I just added a code on every page following its instruction. It seems to be working fine, but what else can I do? What other features should I be doing?
This is a e-commerce site, by the way.

OHC,
are you doing the basics. Looking at what entry pages draw traffic, for what terms and from what engines. Then look at entry, versus popular versus exit pages. Which pages are the stickiest and what is the route from entry to sale or other positive action.

Ok, so there are many features. What features should I use as I try to get some basic understanding of the traffic?

OHC,
look at the aggregate figures I've covered in my previous post. If you see anything interesting, drill down. But don't become addicted.

How about Google Sitemaps? you should have an updated sitemap with google at all time, it's good for deep pages and to those who gets visited to seldom or even to frequently.

You should set up your conversion goals - that way you can see what products sell better, and you should also pay attention to your bounce rates, to see if your site design is having an impact on why people abandon the shopping cart.

I agree, setting up your conversion goals is very important - that way you can see what marketing campaigns are most effective in terms of the conversion percentage. I think Analytics tends to understate the true amount of visitors received by your site, but I personally think that understating is better than overstating so still use it.

On the first page of Google Analytics click on Edit beside the site to add your conversion goals for purchases on your site so you can see what keywords are leading to the best conversions. I like the Marketer view because it has the Marketing Summary where you can see the top sources and keywords and how well they convert if you have conversion goals set up and you can go to Overall Keyword Conversion to see all the keywords. Then I usually check, under Marketing Optimization -> Visitor Segment Performance -> Referring Source to see a bigger list of where your traffic is coming from. That should help you get started if you haven't already. You may want to focus on other areas depending on your needs.
