Beginning of the end for Google?  Reply with quote

Revenue growth in Google Adwords has slowed dramatically according to ComScore. According to the research company revenue was up just 1.8% in the first quarter of 2008.

Obviously the key factor is the overriding recessionary feeling caused by the credit crunch. Consumers and businesses are not so keen to contemplate buying when they receive so much bad news about oil prices and housing repossessions. But could there be something else going on in terms of the demand for search? With normal - single digit - levels of growth could Google just become an ordinary company?

According to BBC, though, Google claims that its profits increased by 30% compared to the first quarter of last year. I don't think there is any fear of Google becoming an "ordinary" company yet :)
