I think the first thing to consider is your site's topic - is there enough interest to generate enough clicks to make $200 per month? Assuming a rate of $.10 a click, that means you'll need to get a ton of traffic to the site, then you need motivate the reader to click on your ads, not the content or whatever it is you have on your site.
Not an easy task, but as long as you generate *unique* content, you should be able to gradually build recurring traffic -

I'm highly dubious of any Adsense scheme that claims to make huge sums. So far I've averaged less than 1% click through rate on a range of different sites. I believe an industry average is about 0.4%.
Why do people click on the ads?

I hear ya. I first started using overture as my keyword predictor then found that that's pretty skewed and moved on to seobook as another free alternative. A lot of seo gurus are recommending Trellian so my company bought an account for that. Based on their numbers I optimized for some keywords and got top 3 rankings only to find that they cannot be searched anywhere near that number of times. In sum, the most accurate keyword tool for telling you what terms get searched for is WordTracker (IMO).

Ill agree with that. Overture tool cost me weeks of work a while back. While their info is is very VERY skewed, I use it to compare to WTs.
The digitalpoint keyword suggest shows them side by side. Perfect.

You can surely think of making $200 per month with your website or blog with 2 hours of effort per day. There are many people who are able to make thousands of dollars per month with little effort. So 2 hours a day are enough to make $200 per month if you are good in your seo and blogging skills
