SEO is organic while SEM is inorganic. SEO is free of cost while for SEM one have to pay to Google for every single click on the ads. SEO takes more time to achieve the results while by using SEM, your ads will be show at the upper side of Google.

I see SEM as a rather broad term. It's everything that can be done to utilize the technology of search engines with the goal of promoting a web site and increasing its traffic, its "stickiness," and, in the case of sites that promote a business (or are a business), increase profits. SEO, therefore, would be a subset of SEM.

SEM is larger than SEO. It includes SEO and other areas to improve a internet sites visibleness in search engine results pages, like paid listings and paid inclusions.

SEO is the act of optimising the HTML and other content of your internet site for relevant, targeted key phrases in order to gain higher natural listings than competing websites. SEO provides a cheaper extended term answer for accumulated specified dealings and generates customer inquiries that ultimately exchange to gross revenues.

SEM is a broader term than SEO. Where SEO aims to provide better organic search results, SEM uses the search engines to advertise your website or business to Internet customers and send a more targeted traffic to your Web site.
