Yahoo  Reply with quote

Hi Guys, not sure if im allowed to ask all of this, but here goes. Ive been assigned to look after a Directors friends site. of course with this comes a slight more stres since if things dont work you get a bit more heat than normal. Basicly I was asked to check why They werent receiving any Yahoo traffic any more. On closer inspection I found that they only had 1 URL in Yahoo, their homepage.
This ( as far as I know) means that his site is being penalised. I check up on it and he had 2 virtual domains runnig side by side on the same ip, I told him to change this and he 301 redirected all the traffic through to the main domain. he has a few other issues which are just general "increase your traffic" issues, but Yahoo are still not willing to spider his site.
My main question is if ayone here could possibly see anything glaringly obvious as to WHY yahoo would not index www.villa-vacation.com. I have already dont a full site assessment and advised him on a few issues, but im unsure as to the Full reason for the penalty of this site. ( btw his robots.txt file is set up slightly unorthodox, but apparently google's robots.txt checker says its fine.
Anyway hopefully someone can help me see something Obvious that im missing.
Thanks for your time

From just looking at the home page there doesn't seem to be any type of maicious coding going on - I did notice that Google had grayed out it's Pagerank on my Toolbar, so maybe the virtual ip hosting did have an affect on the site.

According th the Yahoo site explorer (http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com), the site has over 22k inlinks - so you certainly have coverage so that Slurp can find your site.

You may also want to use the Yahoo modification tool (http://www.randycullom.com/mod_date.php) - that will let you know the last time Yahoo crawled your site - when I ran a check, it came back with an error - so maybe Yahoo can't get to your interior pages.

If you placed 301 re-directs and they are working properly, you should try submitting the site back to Yahoo at their free request page.

Actually it's PR5, it's the . that makes it grey at the end of the domain.

Ritz,

take a look at the Yahoo directory for the site.

Also, the site's invisible in MSN.
