How much traffic?  Reply with quote

I'm ranking very nicely on the new MSN search engine but the traffic is quite low. Is anyone here actually getting decent traffic from MSN?

All depends on the term and the rank.

When ranked high on the first page for some good money terms, the traffic is quite nice.

BTW, set your anchor text in your profile, and you'll have a nice site-wide link at the moment.

I think conversation rate is very low, in addition to the fact that MSN does not attract as many users as Google and Yahoo. Since SEO for MSN is much easier, we may want to target very competitive keywords. What do you think?

Maybe. Hopefully MSN will grow in popularity so the traffic volume will spread itself out over a wider range of keywords as the year progresses.

MSN does seem easier to rank for than Google. I wonder how long it will last?

If it's a competitive keyword, then it doesn't last long unless you keep putting a lot of effort .

Why though? Surely if your site is ranking well it must meet all the criteria for good rankings. Why will that change?

When the keyword is highly competitive, a lot of people(groups) are watching that particular keyword. If and when they find out that they are not ranked within #10, they put a lot of effort to rank higher(apparently). MSN picks it up, and next thing you know, your ranking keeps dropping, and this is actually happening to me right now ... :(

Wouldn't they have put that effort into ranking top for that keyword in the first place though?

I'm guessing that they started working on MSN SEO relatively recently. They rank really really well, and I'm almost certainly that they put a lot of effort in SEO.

I conceive conversation rate is very low, in addition to the fact that MSN does not pull as many exploiters as Google and Yahoo.
