Simple rewrite question  Reply with quote

Hello,

I need the following task to be accomplished using mod_rewrite:

Assuming that "abc" is user's id,

redirect
http://www.myweb.com/user/abc

into
http://www.myweb.com/user/index.php?userid=abc

What would be the rule to make this work please?

Many thanks in advance.

assuming you use Apache's mod_rewrite, add this to your .htaccess somewhere after RewriteEngine On

code:
RewriteRule user/([^./]*)$  user/index.php?userid=$1 [L,NE]

There are more than one way, this is one of them
