Most company's say they will submit your website to helps of other websites, but in fact they are "link farms" which google isn't a big fan of.

So i agree, submit your links manually, as annoying as it may be.

The best way is to submit manually. I think one of the forum members is supposed to be doing this professionally.

There is a member on this forum that provides different levels of directory submission services that I have used and it has saved me tremendous amounts of time.

hi guys
There is one software around for a while, now it's at the 4th release: directory submitter. The website is http://www.directorysubmitter.com
You don't have to worry that your submissions will look fake: it's not a fully automated software but it's a great time-saver. Right now has a list of over 600 directories. It allows you to create profiles for each of your sites with the necessary info (url, title, description etc) Then when you go to any directory it auto-fills all the fields with the profile data and you just press the submit button on the page.
It has some other helpful goodies built-in: for example you can add your own directories to it if you want
