Anybody still keen on Chitika? |
|
|
The Chitika program opened with much fanfare from the webmaster community. A cool new type of interactive PPC advertising with a unique deisgn that showed a lot of promise. But I've been noticing a lot of "bad" news concerning the program:
- Ad redesign so that clicking a picture was no longer possible (or payable), now requring a click on a store name
- Audits that reduced earnings by a significant percentage
- Delays in audits and payments
Anybody still excited about this program and/or making good money with Chitika?

The horror stories I have heard totally turned me off them. I had planned on extending my network, but I think I am going to just wait for YPN to go international. |

I was planning on creating a website tailored around the Chitika concept too, something focusing on all kinds of gadgets. Product websites seem to be the best fit, but I'm dropping that plan for now. |

I've been using them and saw a loss of 60% after the audit. I haven't been cheating on my clicks ( i in fact have good quality traffic, people who buy a lot of stuff ).
For a few days the chitika clicks value has been way lower than the basic adsense or ypn click value, i've started to remove all my chitika banners.
It ends up that chitika just became an affiliate agregator, so i might as well directly put the product from amazon ( most of their ads are amazon ).
pat.

Yea, thats what the general concensus is. They really shot themselves in the foot there. |

I've had some success with them. I can't say that I am overly impressed or that I would recommend them though. I understand why people are taking their banners down.
I do think they're better than putting up Amazon affiliate links, however. I've never had a sale through a direct product link and I think Chitika is suffering from a similar problem (the clicks they are delivering aren't turning into sales). This is why they had to change the "clickability" of the ads.

I like to use Chitika (static) with Adsense for another income stream. For each $100 I make with Adsense, Chitika brings in about $2, so it's not a whole lot of money, but I like the look of Chitika ads, and hav'nt seen a change in my Adsense click through rate, so it's just a little bonus for me. Give them a few more months to work out the bugs, and work through thier bad decisions, then we will see where they really stand in the industry.

The first 3 months of running chitika on a few test sites of mine was great.
I noticed that it worked well only on only certain types of websites that i sold a product on.
When i eventually started getting paid the money was good and gave adsense a run for its money, but after 3 months it died.
My advice would be if you must run chitika then run it in contextual mode along side adsense, never on its own. |

It is too bad that advetisers can't get some direct backlinks for these ads also...it would help average out the BS

Products are always launched to earn profit but i think chitika is more greedy and do not care much about publishers.
