Did you notice that all SEO websites have smaller traffic before holidays. As for me, i lost this weeks about 30% visitors. for 2 my SEO websites.

Snipergrunge,

I've noticed a fall in search traffic across most B2B websites I manage. Seems people have other things to search for.

The upside is that January tends to start with a bang.

January  Reply with quote

Once the holiday backwash is over, January gets going rapidly. I guess all the New Year resolutions regarding dieting, going to the gym, giving up smoking etc.

My enquiries are coming in nicely.

I agree, even for web design, people and businesses put websites on the back-burner until after Christmas when things have started to pick up again. At least that gives a bit of breathing space to improve the sites and prepare for being busy again (I hope!).

I haven't seen any drops, in fact all I've seen is an uptick for all sites. Maybe since there seems to be some type of recession predicted for the US, people want to get what they can while it's still affordable?

Well, the shopping season as you have mentioned can be very important and some websites have also reported fewer returning visitors to their web pages but this cannot be a general rule for all of the websites.

About SEO websites you mentioned, it can be an interesting point.

Not surprising in the least!

Who are the most typical visitors to SEO sites? Business/Site owners.
What are they looking for? A way to improve their site to drive conversion up.

By the time the Holidays rolls in, there is no longer an open window to do anything worthwhile, and it is following the holiday buying rush these same business owners decide that they are tired of the same lackluster results and start looking for some help.

Marketing directly in this awareness has helped convert "shoppers" into solid "customers" by merely mentioning the facts about the best time to start developing and implementing a quality SEO program is July at the latest --- if they hope to get any of the Thanksgiving to Christmas $33B online Q3/gift buying spree money in their til! To turn that silent nod into a click, I offer a spiff off a minimum package (since it's slow in the Summer anyway, so they don't need to feel any more squeezed than they probably are). Works. Every year it helps to spike signups, usually 12-30% above the year before.

Gotta love them numbers! ;)
