Simple PHP Benchmark Script |
|
|
Since I do a lot of PHP web development, I've always wanted a nice easy script to test how well a server can perform various PHP functions--a benchmark. After looking for months without finding a nice-looking easy benchmark, I made my own. With a clean, nice UI and several subtests, this benchmark runs through 10 iterations to see how well your server runs PHP scripts.
PHP Benchmark v1.1
http://benchmarks.nickbarrett.org
Download the script, see submitted results, and find more info. The tests require PHP 4.2.x or newer, and the image/memory manipulation tests use the GD2 image library. Just unzip the file and run the benchmark.php script on your web server.
The benchmark can be downloaded at the site above, or from the included attachment. Please share your results for everyone's benefit! Suggestions, comments, and other feedback welcomed!
Thanks!

I think having to download the script etc might put people off using this script although it looks impressive.

PHP is a computer scripting language. Originally designed for producing dynamic web pages, it has evolved to include a command line interface capability and can be used in standalone graphical applications.
