MYSQL  Reply with quote

MySQL is a relational database management system (RDBMS) which has more than 11 million installations. MySQL is popular for web applications and acts as the database component of the LAMP, BAMP, MAMP, and WAMP platforms.

MySQL is written in C and C++. The SQL parser uses yacc and a home-brewed lexer.Libraries for accessing MySQL databases are available in all major programming languages with language-specific APIs (APIs for C, C++, Eiffel, Java, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, and Tcl are available). In addition, an ODBC interface called MyODBC allows additional programming languages that support the ODBC interface to communicate with a MySQL database, such as ASP or ColdFusion. It is fully multi-threaded using kernel threads and can easily use multiple CPUs if they are available.

Main Features:

1. It is very flexible and secure.

2. A Client can connect to the MySQL server using TCP/IP sockets on any platform.

3. Another useful feature is Localization that is server can provide error messages to clients in many languages.

4. It encompasses a large number of storage engines so user can choose the one depending upon the requirement.
