| Digital Point Updates Keyword Tracking Tool |
|
|
Digital Point has updated its free keyword tracking tool. The tool that previously tracked keyword rankings across Google, Yahoo and MSN has had some problems in recent months.
The first was the change in branding and URLs from MSN to Bing. The second was the withdrawal of the Google search API.
Digital Point appears to have got round both these problems with the new release. The new tool can be found here: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/
I have, however, noticed that Google is becoming increasingly sensitive to multiple searches - going as far as blocking my home computer from undertaking them. Secondly, the accuracy of Google results appears patchy using the new tool.
I imagine the tool will take a couple of days to bed down.

| Google API Not Required |
|

SEO1,
no need for a Google API. If you go download the php script it looks like there's a workaround. I've looked further into the tool and the way its set-up is that it generates rankings on Google.com (or Bing.com or Yahoo.com). The old tool was able to be tailored to show results for your local national market e.g. Google.co.uk.

I have taken a look at the tool. It seems there are two versions. One for free and one for premium members. The free version will show your rank on Google.com upto the first 20 results. If you want to get your rankings for the top 200 this requires a subsciption.

Yes they have updated their older tools but as you have mentioned, Google may not like such applications connecting to its databases.
I still prefer using the good old manual approach which has no limitations about results on pages.
