Traffic for New Site?  Reply with quote

Suppose I have created new ecommerce website, but its domain contains .in extension. I want traffic should come from all over the world. Is it possible? Should I purchased a new domain with extension .com for traffic or not?

First, you mean your site is new, right? Then you should know the Google Sandbox. Now you should prepare good thing for this new site during the 6 months of Google sandbox.

If you want traffic from the US/worldwide, you need a .com site. And while your site is new, you may need to pay for PPC to get visibility...

it is possible to get traffic from anywhere, whatever the extension. if the.com is available then make sure to snap it up before its gone and you can then just divert the traffic

First its possible to rank .in on Google US/UK any where, no doubt that extension of domain is important but more important are backlinks extension, if you get backlinks from UK or US sites your site will rank on these areas also.

Its hard to rank .in extension on Google US, but possible, I suggest that you purchase .com website and redirect your site to new website.

To get global traffic from .in domain, you need to go with PPC or paid banner ads or other advertising ways, which can increase your awareness out of india.

for new domain, dont do high link building till 6-8 months. let google crawl and index them manually. you can do onpage and submit your xml feed of your domain. but dont get more back links for all pages on highly competitive keywords.

Promoting website is same in any extension either website has .com or .in extension, but if you want to target any specific location or country then country extension like .in is better and for global its better that you have .com extension. Also in link building try to get links from websites not specific to any location.

your fist step would be to do some research and find right keywords for your web page to optimize. for that use tools like googleadword, insight etc. then content, title, header, description, anchor text should be taken care of. you also need to work on off page optimization. where you see to get quality backlinks. for that you can use directory submission, article submission, blog comments, social bookmarking etc.
